Yoga DownEast began offering classes in November 2017 in the former Masonic Building in the Village of Orland.  YDE boasts two large studio spaces – The River Studio on the first floor overlooking the peaceful Narrramissic River and The Moon Studio on the third floor with its unique barrel vaulted ceiling topped with a cupola.

Krista Hastings, E-RYT 500

Krista moved from New Jersey to Maine in 2000 in order to live a life more connected to the seasons and nature. She lives on an old farm with lots of woods and lots of critters. Yoga is a perfect complement to her life as she practices being present with what is. Krista’s favorite thing about yoga is that no matter how you go into a class – you come out happy. She especially loves the heart opening of backbends, the worldview of inversions and the fun of playing around with arm balances.

Studio Building

River Studio2.jpg

Our location is a big part of what makes Yoga DownEast so special!  Our (almost) 4,000 square foot studio building dates back to 1850 (at least!) and has been home to many different enterprises in her past.  At one time she was a General Store – what is now the River Studio was the “barn” where feed and grain was stored, and you can see the door in the ceiling to what was once the hayloft.  (Now, housing a sparkly disco ball!)
