Meet Krista
Krista moved from New Jersey to Maine in 2000 in order to live a life more connected to the seasons and nature. She lives on an old farm with lots of woods and lots of critters. Yoga is a perfect complement to her life as she practices being present with what is. Krista’s favorite thing about yoga is that no matter how you go into a class – you come out happy. She especially loves the heart opening of backbends, the worldview of inversions and the fun of playing around with arm balances.
Krista received yoga teaching certificates from Rolf Gates (200 hour Vinyasa), Central Street Yoga (200 hr), Laughing Lotus (500 hr), Jennifer Reis Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra (40 hr), Richard Miller iRest Yoga Nidra Level 1 (40 hr), Integrative Yoga for Seniors at Duke Integrative Medicine (50 hr) – plus more yoga and meditation workshops than she can even remember with many notable teachers, including Sharon Salzberg, Judith Hanson Lasater, Leslie Kaminoff, Kathryn Budig, Raghunath, Desiree Rumbaugh, Tiffany Cruikshank and others.
Formerly an E-RYT 500 (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher at the 500-hour level of training - the highest acknowledged level of registration with Yoga Alliance), Krista has decided to part ways with Yoga Alliance due to their relaxed standards of integrity regarding how teachers are trained. Although no longer using the designation, Krista's training and experience remain the same.
Krista is grateful for the support and guidance of her past, present (and future!) yoga teachers. She is particularly grateful for the guidance of those teachers who taught her the many joys and challenges of teaching, itself – Terry Lacy, Angela Fileccia, Caroline Trostel, Kitty Wilkin and Rolf Gates, and to all the students who make the decision to show up on the mat.
